Fridge Door Seal Gasket Installation Guide

Installing a fridge door gasket is a task that can be done with some basic tools and careful attention. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you:

Tools and Materials Needed:
Scraper (with a flat surface, not sharp so it won’t damage the door seal)
Hairdryer (optional, to soften the gasket)
Anti-bacteria/Alcohol Wipes (to clean the area)

Step 1:
Soak the new door seal in hot water 5 – 10mins, to soften the door seal for easier installation and to straighten any bend during delivery

Step 2:

Turn Off the Fridge: For safety and to prevent excess cold air from escaping, unplug the fridge or turn it off. Avoid Fridge beeping can be really annoying.

Step 3:
Remove the Old Gasket:
Open the fridge door wide. Use the scraper or screwdriver to pry open the old door seal.

Step 4:
Clean the Area:
With the old gasket removed, clean the area where the new gasket will be installed. Use mild soap and water to remove any dirt, grime, or mold.

Prepare the New Gasket:

Step 5:

Before installation, inspect the new gasket. If there are visible fold or bend during packaging, use a hairdryer to gently warm it up and make it more flexible. Be careful not to overheat it.

Step 6:

Install the New Gasket:

Start by fitting the gasket at the top corners of the door. Ensure that the lip of the gasket slides into the groove.
Work your way around the door, fitting the gasket into place.
Once the gasket is in place, ensuring the gasket is evenly seated.

Step 7:

Check the Seal:

After installing the gasket, close the fridge door and check for any gaps or areas where the seal isn’t tight.
If there are gaps, you may need to adjust the gasket slightly or use the hairdryer to soften and reshape it.
Use masking tape to close the door tightly for 4-6 hours to ensure the new seal is tightly secured to the door frame

Plug the fridge back in and monitor it over the next few hours to ensure it’s maintaining a proper seal. Check for cold air leaks around the door.

Tips:
Patience is key: Take your time to ensure the gasket is properly seated and there are no twists or kinks.
Check your manual: Some fridge models may have specific instructions or tools required for gasket replacement.
With these steps, your fridge door should seal properly, helping maintain the efficiency of your appliance.
